Objectives

POSEIDON aims to:

• OBJ1: Design a robust system for tri-generation of electricity, hydrogen and freshwater from renewable energy (mainly solar light) and seawater. The project aims at validating the performances of the most innovative technologies hosted within this system.

• OBJ2: Study of the effect of static and magnetic field on the photocatalytic yield by means of specially designed nanostructured magnetic semiconductor.

• OBJ3: Qualification of rSOC materials after exposure to seawater contaminants.

• OBJ4: rSOC stack performance mapping: identification of critical boundaries in terms of syngas concentration and fuel cell-electrolyzer inversion cycle frequency.

• OBJ5: Development of the integrated system architectures and optimization of the system layout.

• OBJ6: Definition of replicable concepts.

• OBJ7: Promote a strategy to create an innovative and well-balanced energy mix and energy storage mix with ambitious goals for renewable energy share and sector coupling.

• OBJ8 Develop a technical and economic strategy to bring the country towards the green revolution by assessing several technologies that can contribute to double the targets of renewable power generation.

• OBJ9: Impact assessment (energy, economic, social indicators) to induce choices of operators oriented to (a) optimization of the investments necessary to obtain environmental neutrality in hydrogen processes and (b) minimization of public and/or tax subsidies.

• OBJ10: Dissemination in the academic community and beyond.
